Project Boats

Initiated Phase one of &Project Skanky Beast;

JasonJ Thanks to those who have endorsed project Skanky Beast. I got motivated and took the company Bobcat and dug out my gate, then the boat (a ton of snow), and it is now back in the carport so I can begin dissection, reconstruction, and renovation. I can take better pics now, and at least do the teardown. Too cold for any glasswork right now. 2003-01-21

JasonJ I am going to convert this 1970 16.5ft Silverline Corono tri-hull runabout to a center console. I got it dirt cheap, but as such it needs work. I suspect that there is rot in the floor, because someone laid 3/4 ply on top and nailed it in. It may be a minor thing, but I have prepared myself mentally for a complete re-floor with new foam if the old stuff is saturated or even has any. I was originally going to just set it up again how it was, with back-to-back seats and all that, but I fish, and have always wanted a center console, and I think this will work. The current consoles will be removed, and reinforcement will be glassed in to maintain strength. I will leave the bow seating as-is, and will probably build a mold and hand glass the center console and the seat base. I could buy a console, and I still may, but if I glass my own, it can be exactly the way I want it. I will also prep and paint it white, and the trailer will get a complete rebuild, as well as a new impeller for the Merc for peace of mind. It should be a rocking' little boat, with that 125 horse Merc on it, it goes over 40 right now (gps).
